Dame Vera Lynn Wishes 440 Productions Successful Performances May, 2004 Just prior to presenting Time to Remember Songs and Stories of the War Years at the Astor Theatre in Deal, England May 17 and 18, 2004, the Director of 440 Productions George Egan, read the letter to the cast and crew received from Dame Vera Lynn: “Dear 440 Productions, Regarding your invitation for the performances the 17th or 18th of May 2004, I am sorry but as I shall be in France at that time, I shall not be able to accept. Please convey my regrets to all concerned. I have spent much time in Canada on Concert tours and have always had a great time. Will you tell these young performers, I am sorry to not be able to see them perform, and give them all my best wishes. Success to your concerts Yours, Dame Vera Lynn [The letter was received by Mary Eldridge, 440 Productions’ contact and liaison with the Downs Branch of the Royal British Legion in Deal.
