Airborne Museum, Sainte-Mere Eglise, Normandy, France Sainte Mere Eglise was the first town in France liberated by allied forces. A uniformed model of a paratrooper hangs from the church roof by his white parachute. The towering old medieval church dominates the square. The Airborne Museum is dedicated to the men and events of D-Day and the the American paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions.
