Maisy Battery was the largest German coastal defensive site in the D-day invasion area. There are two and a half miles of trenches, bunkers, shelters, and original German guns. The site was constructed for the most part below ground level and was well hidden. The Maisy Batteries fired at the invasion fleet for three days before being captured by the US Rangers after a five hour battle. The huge site at Maisy, hidden and buried for over 60 years, was re-discovered and opened to the public in 2006. [Photos were taken in July 2009Click to enlarge photos
