The Maine Veterans Cemetery Records confirm that Ernest Bourque served overseas July
16, 1918 until April 26, 1919 and that his service included engagement in the Toul Sector.
The Americans referred to the area around Toul, France as the Toul Sector.
Two large operations were launched from this area: the St. Mihiel Offensive and the
Meuse-Argonne Offensive, both in September 1918.
He survived the First World War and was discharged May 1, 1919 and returned to
Lewiston, Maine.
He was married to Margaret M. Murphy, born 1892, and they had two children, Margaret,
born 1930, and Jerry, born 1932.
Ernest Bourque died at the age of 39, on April 10, 1934 at 42 Androscoggin Ave in
Lewiston. His wife, Margaret M. Bourque lived to the age of 86 and died in Lowell,
Massachusetts, on November 11, 1977.
The family are all interred at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Lewiston, Androsoggin Co., ME.
