Luke Francis 931297 Private No. 2 Construction Battalion December 18, 1891 Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia October 4, 1916 Truro, Nova Scotia Digby, NS 25 5 feet, 3 inches Dark Black Brown Labourer Married Church of England Vera Francis (Wife) Digby, NS March 3, 1919 (St. John, New Brunswick) September 12, 1967 Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery, Yarmouth NS Luke Francis was the son of Joseph Francis (1851-1911) and Mary Elizabeth (Halliday) Francis (1869- 1931). He married Vera Elisabeth Bernard (1897-1999) of Yarmouth, NS, in Digby, NS, on March 10, 1915. Luke lived in Yarmouth for 22 years prior to his death. Having trained in Canada, he embarked for overseas, on the SS Southland at Halifax on March 25, 1917 arriving in England on March 7, 1917. He embarked England for service in France arriving there on May 17, 1917. Private Luke Francis served in Canada, England, and France.
