George was the son of Harvey Andrew Jeffery (1858-1949) and Emily Elizabeth (Earle) Jeffery (1859-1941),
and the husband of Betty (Beckman) Jeffery (b. 1898).
His siblings were Brenda Beatrice Jeffery (b. 1883), Ruth Hilda Jeffrey (1886-1984), Marjorie Louise
Jeffery, (b. 1891) Rosslyn Webster Jeffery (1893-1993), Heber Earle Jeffery (b. 1893), Harvey Kenneth
Jeffery (1896-1944), Angus Walker Jeffery (1900-1989), and Cora Jeffery (1903-1992).
His brothers Heber Earle Jeffery and Harvey Kenneth Jeffery also served during WWI.
Prior to active enlistment in WWI, George also served with the 29th Battery, Canadian Field Artillery in
Yarmouth, NS. He sailed from Halifax, NS to England aboard the SS Olympic on October 12, 1916.
During the war, he served as a guard at a wireless station, with the 1st Siege Battery, the 219th Battalion
and the 85th Battalion. He served in Canada, England and France. He was discharged June 18, 1919, at
Halifax, NS.
