LeBlanc (Father), Lower West Pubnico, Yarmouth Co., NS Date of Discharge: February 29, 1919 (with demobilization) Place of Discharge: Halifax, Halifax County, NS Age at Discharge: 26 Date of Death: January 28, 1964 Age: 71 Cemetery: Saint Pierre Parish Cemetery, Middle West Pubnico, Yarmouth County, NS Simon Paul LeBlanc was the son of Ambroise Levite LeBlanc (1849-1918) and Virginie d'Entremont (1853- 1944), the brother of Angela Alexandrina LeBlanc (1878-1942), Louise Stephanie LeBlanc (1881-1957), Marie Irmine Bourque (1883-1926), Ambroise Robert LeBlanc (1887-1947), and Joachim Joseph LeBlanc (1890-1948), and the husband of Louise Octavie (Boudreau) LeBlanc (1899-1944). Simon was single during the war, and married Louise in 1921. The two had two children, Martha Veronique LeBlanc Amirault (1927-2018), and Robert Flavien LeBlanc (1935-1960). Simon initially enlisted with the 1st Depot Battalion, Nova Scotia Regiment, and was transferred to the 6th Battalion, Canadian Garrison Regiment in Halifax, NS as of December 3, 1918, until demobilization His obituary from the Le Petit Courrier on January 30, 1964 (page 11, translated) read: It is with regret that we announce the very sudden death of Mr. Simon Paul LeBlanc, who died Tuesday morning, the 28th of January, at Yarmouth Hospital at the age of 71. Mr. LeBlanc was in the hospital mid- month, and had an operation on the 21st, but he did not die because of the operation. The last survivor of the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lévite LeBlanc, he leaves in mourning two daughters, Mrs. Avallin Amirault, Martha, of the paternal home, and Mrs. Julien d'Entremont, Delphine, of Lower West Pubnico. His wife, born Louise Boudreau, originally of Yarmouth, died several years ago, and a son, Robert, died in Chicoutimi, Québec in December 1960. The service was sung this morning at the St-Pierre Church of West Pubnico. The Rev. Father Neault officiated, and the pallbearers were Aurèle Amirault, Guy, Gabriel and Médéric d'Entremont, Louis and Thomas LeBlanc, the latter two nephews of the deceased. Simon’s grave was originally marked by a wooden cross, and the family later added a headstone for Simon and his wife Louise.
