Anne du Ruisseau, Argyle, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia Alvinie Anatole Lorgere was the son of Gustave Lorgere (1862-1930) and Francoise (Muise) Lorgere (1873-1946) of Sainte-Anne-du-Ruisseau, Argyle, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. Alvinie was the husband of Rosalie Octavie Muise (1893-1972) and the father of a large family including daughters Zita, Bernadette, Celine, Priscilla, Loretta, and Marie Rosaline Lorgere-Leverman (1933-2009), and sons G. Emile Lorgere (1934-2008), and Alfred Lorgere. Variations of his surname are Lorgeree, Lorgerie, and Lorgerae. After enlisting during the First World War in October of 1915, Alvinie served in Canada with the 63rd Regiment until May 1, 1918, and with the Band of the 6th Detachment, or 6th Battalion of the Canadian Garrison Regiment beginning in May 1918, until his discharge. He served with a military band in Halifax (pictured above in uniform with his military director's baton) and was medically discharged on demobilization on July 26, 1919. He was living at the St. Joseph’s Villa senior home in Dayton, Yarmouth Co., NS, at the time of his death on October 7, 1975. He is interred at the Sainte-Anne Parish Cemetery in Ste. Anne du Ruisseau in the Municipality of Argyle in Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. Alvinie’s daughter Rosaline also served in the military in the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) of the Royal Air Force. She married Gerald Ronald Edward Leverman (1926-1984).
