Aubrey Simmons was the son of Moses and Ida Belle (Langford) Simmons of Yarmouth, NS. Both parents
predeceased Aubrey. The family resided on Main Street in Yarmouth.
World War I Service:
Having trained in Canada, Aubrey embarked for overseas, on the SS Southland at Halifax on March 25,
1917 arriving in England on March 7, 1917. He embarked England for service in France arriving there
on May 17, 1917. He returned to England on December 14, 1918 and embarked to Canada on January
12, 1919. Having served in Canada, England, and France he was discharged on demobilization on
February 14, 1919.
World War II Remembrance Page:
Aubrey Simmons served as a Sapper with the Royal Canadian Engineers during World War II. He died of
advanced pulmonary Tuberculosis at Veterans’ Hospital Cornwallis, NS, on March 26, 1947. His death
was attributed to his service.
