Prior to his enlistment he was employed with National Defence at the Debert Station, NS On the night of May 30, 1942 Flight Sergeant was the pilot of a bomber with Squadron 78 that failed to return to base after a bombing raid over Cologne, Germany. Two other members of the crew, Flight Sergeant G. A. Welsh of Saskatchewan, and Sergeant W. F. Pickett also failed to return. Commemorated on Page 122 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance.
