Commemorated on Page 145 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance Displayed in the Memorial Chamber of the Peace Tower in Ottawa on March 27 Private Keith Vernon Chetwynd, one of five children, was the son of Son of Robert (1896-1987) and Marion Maude (Ross) Chetwynd (1896-1966), of East Baccaro, Shelburne Co., NS. His father was born in Woods Harbour, Shelburne Co; his mother was born in Stoney Island, Shelburne Co. He completed basic training at Yarmouth and advanced training at Aldershot and taken on strength with the West Nova Scotia Regiment on July 19, 1942. He sailed for England on July 20, 1942 and arrived in the United Kingdom on August 2, 1942. On June 15, 1943 the Regiment sailed for Italy and arrived there on July 29, 1943.
