  Lorimer Leigh Johnson was the son of James and Laura Johnson, husband of Hattie Allieta (Bennett) 
  Johnson (1917-1979), of Canso, NS. Lorimer and Hattie were married on August 15, 1938 in Canso, NS.  
  and the father of Howard, Russell, and Ralph. Lorimer was the brother of Russell, Benjamin, Jack, 
  James, Vernon, Rueben, Dora, Ida May, Lorena, Murel, and Edith. 
  He initially enlisted with the Pictou Highlanders  
  and trained in Canada until July 20, 1944 and 
  disembarked in the UK on July 29, 1944.  He 
  departed England on August 29, 1944 and landed 
  in France on August 30, 1944 and joined the Argyll 
  and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada on 
  September 1, 1944.
  On October 20, 1944 he was wounded and 
  hospitalized and after a second admission to 
  hospital returned to his unit on February 15, 1945 
  and served with the unit until his death on April 
  21, 1945.
  He was initially buried two hundred feet south of 
  the bridge on the main road in Oldenburg, 
  Friesoythe, Germany and reburied in the Holten 
  Canadian War Cemetery, Netherlands in 1946.
  Lorimer was born Lorimer Leigh Johnson. On his 
  military records, he later spelled his middle name
