Thomas Hadley Roderic MacAulay was the son of Donald L. MacAulay (b. 1879) and Margot MacAulay (), the
brother of and the brother of Donald Ian MacAulay (1918-1971), and the husband of Georgina Elizabeth Leitch
McKenzie (1911–1997). The two were married December 15, 1942, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She later
remarried Merrill Wood McKenzie (1905-1993) after Thomas’ death.
Thomas’ brother Donald Ian MacAulay served as a Lieutenant in the Canadian Army in WWII. His postings
included Kentville, Kings Co., NS.
Thomas was a crew member on Liberator VI EW101 which, having taken off from RAF Station Abu Suweir,
crashed 3 miles North of Hadera, Palestine due to mechanical failure during a bullseye training exercise.
Flight Lieutenant Thomas Hadley Roderic MacAulay was killed along with all the other six crew members of
the bomber.

Thomas MacAulay is the only known WWII casualty with
ties to Nova Scotia interred at the Khayat Beach War
Cemetery in Haifa, Israel.
