Commemorated on page 157 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance Displayed in the Memorial Chamber of the Peace Tower in Ottawa on April 2 Joseph was the son of Francis and Marie Jane (Gerard) Edwards. Marie Edwards died in 1921. Prior to his enlistment Joseph worked on a farm in Kentville, NS. He was killed in action near St. Vito, near the Moro River, while serving in Italy. He was initially buried in St. Vito, in an orchard.
