   Born on November 12, 1916, at Sydney Mines,  Daniel was the son of Daniel M. and 
  Ann Fraser of New Waterford, NS.  He was the husband of Catherine Jane Fraser, married 
  on November 8, 1939, and father of Georgina and Daniel David Fraser.  
  A miner by trade, he enlisted on October 14, 1939 at New Waterford.   He served in 
  Canada until November 10, 1941, in the United Kingdom between November 11, 1941 
  and October 23, 1943 and in Italy from October 24, 1943 until his death on January 17, 
  1944.  He was killed in action and was initially buried near the junction of the Ortona and 
  Tollo Road.  
  Commemorated on page 309 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance
   Displayed in the Memorial Chamber of the Peace Tower in Ottawa on July 1
