Corporal MacDonald was the son of Matthew Clement MacDonald and Annie Laurie MacDonald, of
Halifax, NS, the husband of Mellissa Anne MacDonald and father of Donald James MacDonald (b. 1940).
Prior to his enlistment in October, 1939 Corporal MacDonald served with #22 Field Ambulance
RCASC from July 7, 1938. He went overseas in July 1941 and served in England with the 85th Canadian
Bridge Company, Canadian Army Service Corps. On March 2, 1944, he was killed, the result of a
motorcycle accident at Woking, Surrey while on military service. He was buried on March 7, 1944 in
the Brookwood Military Cemetery, Surrey, UK.
