Stirling Cashman Mason Lieutenant O-47000 Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve HMCS Valleyfield October 21, 1921 Tangier, Halifax Co., Nova Scotia March 25, 1942 Halifax May 7, 1944 22 Halifax Memorial Commemorated on page 374 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance Displayed in the Memorial Chamber of the Peace Tower in Ottawa on August 8 Stirling Cashman Mason was the son of James Edgar and Myrtle Victoria Mason (nee Beaver), of Tangier, Nova Scotia. Husband to Julia Louise (Dickinson) Mason and father of Cashman Roger Stirling Mason. Lieutenant Mason died when his ship, HMCS Valleyfield was torpedoed and sunk on May 7, 1944, by U- 548
