Ships served in and postings: September 3, 1939, Commenced Active Service at NCSO Quebec January 2, 1940, Drafted to HMCS Stadacona April 23, 1940, Drafted to HMCS Venture September 2, 1940 * Rated Acting Able Seaman, RCNVR October 22, 1940, Drafted to HMCS Stadacona February 8, 1941 * Rated Layer Rating 3rd Class, RCNVR February 15, 1941, Drafted to HMCS Otter (S04), Armed Yacht James survived the sinking of HMCS Otte March 26, 1941. He was an Ordinary Seaman, listed as living at 122 5th St., Quebec City, QC. Of her crew of 163, there were only 38 survivors. Having died at sea with no known grave, Raymond James Valiquette is remembered on Panel 11 of the Halifax Memorial within the grounds of Point Pleasant Park in Halifax, NS. The lost crew members are also honoured at a dedicated monument in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec.
