Charles Mertin Fairfax was the son of Charles and Ethel Fairfax, of Three Mile Plains, Hants Co., Nova
Scotia.
He was stationed at No. 60 Canadian Army Basic Training Centre (Camp 60) in Yarmouth, NS to complete
his basic training from December 19, 1942 to February 23, 1943.
He then proceeded to Aldershot and after 2 weeks leave,
departed for the UK on May 13, 1943, arriving May 22,
1943. He served in the UK until October 1943 at which
point, he transferred to Italy, departing the UK on October
26, 1943 for the Italian Campaign. He served in Italy until
his death May 17, 1944.
