Walter Patrick Davis was the son of William Joseph
(1889-1967) and Bridget (Fitzgerald) Lewis (1890-
1981), of Holyrood, Conception Bay, Newfoundland.
His mother was born in Bonavista, Newfoundland
and his father in Holyrood, Newfoundland.
Ordinary Seaman Walter Patrick Lewis was stationed
at HMS Drake, a naval shore establishment (Royal
Navy barracks) in Devonport, Plymouth, Devon,
England when he died.
The Canadian Virtual War Memorial and
Commonwealth War Graves Commission list Walter’s
death as being on Christmas Day, December 25,
1942 whereas the UK, British Navy and Army Birth
records record it as Boxing Day, December 26, 1942.
