Simeon Rose Seaman SS Sesostris (Egypt) Canadian Merchant Navy September, 1916 Harbour Breton, Newfoundland January 29, 1941 23 Halifax Memorial Panel; 19 Commemorated on Page 221 of the Merchant Navy Book of Remembrance Displayed in the Memorial Chamber of the Peace Tower in Ottawa on May 2, September 29, and December 4 Simeon Rose was the son of William John Rose (1888-1985) and Susan Grace (Fiander) Rose (1895-1968), of North Sydney, NS. Simeon was born in Harbour Breton, Newfoundland. After 1922 the family lived in North Sydney. Simeon Rose served in the Merchant Navy during WWII. He was a seaman on the SS Sesostris when the ship was hit by a torpedo from U-boat 106 on January 29, 1941. The SS Sesostris sank within ten minutes.
