Simeon Rose was the son of William John Rose (1888-1985) and Susan Grace (Fiander) Rose (1895-1968),
of North Sydney, NS. Simeon was born in Harbour Breton, Newfoundland. After 1922 the family lived
in North Sydney.
Simeon Rose served in the Merchant Navy during WWII. He was a seaman on the SS Sesostris when the
ship was hit by a torpedo from U-boat 106 on January 29, 1941. The SS Sesostris sank within ten
minutes.
