His father was born in Sandy Cove, Digby County, Nova Scotia. His mother was born in York, Ontario. Bach’s father Sapper Bernard Allbright died of illness attributable to his military service on January 28, 1947, and is considered a casualty of WWII.Bach’s mother remarried Hugh Campbell Moreland (1901-1973) on June 18, 1941. Bach studied at the Clinton Street Public School and Central Tech in Toronto. His studies included welding and sign writing. Bach’s hobbies included stamp collecting and carpentry, and his earlier work included odd jobs, candy making and working as a factory laborer. He enjoyed baseball and field hockey, playing defence. Bach served in the Militia (Reserves) from August 17, 1941, with the 9th Toronto Field Battery until he enlisted for active service in WWII with the 30th Light AA Battery (AF) of the Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA). Later he went on to serve with the 3rd Field Regiment of the RCA.Gunner Bach Bernard Allbright died of his wounds on September 17, 1944, while serving in Italy and is interred at the Gradara War Cemetery.
