Primrose Hilton Hamilton was the son of Prescott Hilton Hamilton (1897-1926) and Ellen Louisa (Davidson)
Hamilton Evans, He was the brother of Morlow F Hamilton (d. November 28, 1922) and a half brother of
Evelyn Isabelle Evans. After his father’s death in 1926, Primrose’s mother remarried Frank Edward Evans on
December 31, 1931.
Primrose spent a year and a half cleaning shoes in a shoemaker’s shop, a year as a delivery boy and cleaner
at a local drug store, and a year and a half as a railway porter prior to enlistment.
Lance Corporal Hamilton completed his Basic Training at Camp 60 In Yarmouth, NS, from June 9, 1943, to
July 28, 1943, his Advance Training at #A14 Canadian Infantry Training Centre at Aldershot, NS from July 29
to October 16, 1943, and Battle Drill Training with the 1st Training Brigade Group at Debert, NS from
October 17 to December 15, 1943.
He went overseas disembarking in the United Kingdom on December 21, 1943. He embarked the United
Kingdom on February 17, 1944, and disembarked in Italy on March 3, 1944. He was promoted to Lance
Corporal September 1, 1944.
Lance Corporal Hamilton died of wounds received in action in Italy on October 17, 1944.
