December 18, 1944 19 Lorraine American Cemetery, France Plot G, Row 8, Grave 20 James Russell Meuse was the son of Eugene John Meuse (1877-1952; b. Amirault’s Hill, Yarmouth Co., NS) and Mary Laura White (1884-1976; b. Abrams River, Yarmouth Co., NS). He was the brother of Eleanor (1917-2014; b. Amirault’s Hill) Matilda Rose (1922-1982; b. Amirault’s Hill) and Eugene Richard (1928- 1992; b. Gloucester, Mass.) The family was living in Gloucester, Massachusetts in 1943 when James completed a WWII Draft Card. He had completed one year of high school was employed with Gloucester Seafood at the Fish Pier in Gloucester. James Meuse enlisted at Fort Devens on March 13, 1944. He served with the 347th Infantry Regiment, 87th Infantry Division, US Army in France. He was killed in action on December 18, 1944 and was buried in the Lorraine American Cemetery, France.
