His mother was born in Antigonish County, Nova Scotia. His father was born in Virginia. He had one brother – David Flournoy Morton (1919–2010). Allan registered for the US Draft on February 16, 1942, in Winchester, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts. He was living with his mother and brother in Stoneham, Middlesex Co., Mass. and working for the General Electric Company at the time. Allan enlisted in March of 1942 and reported at the Naval Reserve Aviation Base at Naval Air Station Squantum in Boston, Massachusetts on April 9, 1942, for elimination flight training (he appears on the muster roll there on April 30, 1942), and primary flight instruction. He spent time at the United States Navy Hospital in Chelsea Mass. in May of 1942. Allan served as a naval aviator. He was promoted to Air Cadet on June 15, 1942. Lieutenant Junior Grade Allan MacMillan Morton died in a flying accident near the NATB (Naval Aviation Training Base) in Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas. He was based at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi at the time. His body was returned to his home state and he was interred at the Lindenwood Cemetery in Stoneham, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.
