William Drozdiak was the son of John and Catherine Drozdiak, of Edson, Alberta. Having completed training in Canada and receiving his Air Gunner Badge on June 16, 1944, he embarked Halifax for overseas on August 3, 1944 and disembarked in the United Kingdom on August 10, 1944. He trained with No. 83 Operational Training unit from August 29, 1944. William was then assigned to No. 27 Operational Training Unit at RAF Church Broughton, Derbyshire, England on October 27, 1944. On November 8, 1944 during night training flying operations at 7:55 pm, the aircraft, Wellington X JA343 of which he was a member of the crew, fell to the ground twenty minutes after the take-off , one mile south south-west of Church Broughton, Derbyshire, England. All six members of the crew were lost. His funeral took place at the RAF Regional Cemetery, Chester on November 13, 1944.
