Harvey Albert Frizzell was the son of John ‘Jack’ Frizzell and Dora Frizzell, of Los Angeles, California, USA, and the brother of
Paul H. Frizzell. Both of Harvey’s parents were born in Toronto. His father was a News Agent Manager. During the 1940’s,
Harvey’s parents moved to California to live with Harvey’s brother Paul.
Harvey enjoyed rugby, swimming, and tennis, and was attended Riverdale Collegiate prior to his RCAF enlistment.
After training in Canada, he embarked in Halifax on October 22nd and arrived in the UK on October 30, 1943, and served with
428 Squadron before transferring to 432 Squadron.
Pilot Officer Frizzell was serving aboard Halifax bomber LK779, which failed to return from an operation attack on Frankfurt,
Germany. The plane was shot down by night fighters on March 22, 1944, at approximately 10:00 pm, 2½ to 3 miles north west of
Philippstein near Braunfels, District of Oberlahn.
