Joseph Georges Jean Legault was the son of Albert Legault and Bernadette (Massé) Legault of Les Cedres, Quebec, and brother of
Oscar Legault, Rosario Legault, Laurent Legault, Bernard Legault, Jean George Legault, Gertrude Legault, Dolores E. Legault, Alberta
Legault, and Rita Legault.
Joseph played baseball and his elementary schooling was completed at the College du Sacré-Coeur from 1931-39. From 1939-1941 he
worked on the farm with his father, in 1941-42 he worked for the Metropolitan Coal Company, Montreal, in 1942 he worked for St-
André Transport, and from 1942 until he enlisted, he worked for Zinc Oxide, Montreal.
After enlisting in late June of 1943, Joseph was on leave since September 5, 1943, from the No. 1 ‘M’ Depot in Toronto, Ontario when
his body was found in the St. Lawrence (Ottawa) River near Ste Anne de Bellevue on September 15th. He had visited his parents while
on leave, and was staying near the river at his brother Bernard’s and visiting on September 8th. It was determined his accidental
death occurred on September 8, 1943.
