Gordon Felix Loyer was the son of Edward Loyer and Margueritte Catherine (Perraotte) Loyer of East York, Ontario and brother of
Leonard Loyer and Richard Loyer.
Gordon was educated at St. Paul’s School (1930-1936) and De LaSalle College (1936-1937). He was a stamp collector, and enjoyed
swimming and playing hockey. In 1938, Gordon was employed with Hopkins Auto as a body and welding apprentice. Prior to his
enlistment is was a truck Driver for Reliance Delivery.
Following enlistment, Gordon was assigned to the Technical Training School at St. Thomas, Ontario, on June 7, 1940. On August
21, 1940, he was admitted to the Station Hospital, at St. Thomas, transferred to St. Joseph Hospital on August 31, 1940 and with
his health deteriorating, at the request of his parents, he was moved to Christie Street Hospital, in Toronto. Suffering from an
extensive inflection gave marked toxaemia which resulted in his death following the three months of illness on December 4,
1940.
Gordon was buried in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Toronto.
