Robert Malcolm McGregor was the son of Roderick Murdoch McGregor and Dovie Yates (Johnson) McGregor, of Winnipeg.
He attended school between 1931 and 1942 obtaining his grade twelve and in 1942-1943 attended the University of Manitoba
completing part of the first year of Engineering. His sport activities included hockey, shooting, fishing, tennis, skiing and swimming.
Robert enlisted on April 27, 1943, and began training at No 2 Initial Training School between June 27, 1943 and September 4, 1943.
in Regina. He then was taken on strength at No 23 Elementary Flying Training School near Davidson, Saskatchewan on September 5,
1943.
On October 8, 1943, Leading Aircraftman McGregor. the pilot (in training) in Cornell FH880 aircraft, was killed when the plane
crashed seven miles west of Elbow, Saskatchewan, on a island in the South Saskatchewan River.
