Geoffrey William Stone was the son of George William and Enfield Ellen Stone of Sarnia, Ontario. He was the brother of Phyllis,
Margaret, Beverley, and George. Both his father and brother also served during WWII.
Flight Sergeant Stone trained in Canada with the RCAF from November 11, 1942, to March 25, 1944. He obtained his Air Gunner
Badge on January 28, 1944. He embarked Halifax on March 25, 1944 and disembarked in the United Kingdom on April 4, 1944.
He continued training in the UK and was assigned to 158 RAF Squadron on November 3, 1944.
On November 8, 1944, Flight Sergeant Stone was an Air Gunner on Halifax Bomber III HX356 that departed Lissett, East Yorkshire
on a night bombing training flight. The aircraft crashed at 920 pm approximately three minutes after takeoff with the loss of all
seven members of the crew.
