Robert Alexander Welsh was the son of David Alexander Welsh (1880-1954) and Luella Mildred (Batholomew) Welsh (1883-1950),
of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and the brother of James Gordon Welsh (1912-1989), and Margaret Helen Welsh (1921-2007).
David graduated from Niagara Falls Boys College, and, in his spare time, enjoyed reading, swimming and tennis. At the time of his
enlistment in the Royal Canadian Air Force, he was employed as an attendant at Gunning’s Gas Station.
David was training at the No. 14 Service Flying Training School (14 SFTS), at RCAF Station Aylmer in Ontario, when he was killed
in a flying accident at 3:20 am on April 28, 1942. He was piloting Harvard Mark II No. 3093, when it crashed 2 miles east of
Aylmer.
David was interred at the Vanessa Cemetery in Windham Township, Norfolk County, Ontario.
