Henry Clinton Doane was the son of Nehemiah (1847-1905) and Mary (Killam)
Doane (1849-1930) and husband of Mary Etta (Robinson) Doane (1876-1957) of
Yarmouth, NS.
Henry married Mary Robinson on July 23, 1898, at the age of 22, at Yarmouth.
They had one child, Leslie John Doane, born July 27, 1900.
The Schooner F. W. Roebling suffered severe damage during the Halifax Explosion and Henry Clinton Doane was
the sole fatality aboard.
His headstone inscription reads: “In loving memory. Henry C, Doane, Killed in Halifax Explosion, December 6,
1917”
