The family left Yarmouth and was residing in the United States when John enlisted with the Canadian Navy. He was the husband of Mary Yvonne Watson, of Ottawa. Ontario. He was lost when HMCS Valleyfield was torpedoed by enemy action in the Atlantic on May 7, 1944.
