Royden Allen 1099752 Private 256th Overseas Railway Construction Battalion September 13, 1898 (actual date of birth: September 13, 1900 Yarmouth, NS January 26, 1917 16 Height: 5 feet 3 ½ inches Complexion: Dark Eyes: Brown Hair: Black Yarmouth NS Yarmouth, NS 29 Battery Canadian Field Artillery (Yarmouth) Single Mill Hand Baptist Mrs. May Allen (Mother) Yarmouth, NS August 28, 1918 Royden John Allen was the son of William Todd Allen and Mary Elizabeth (Robichaud) Allen of Yarmouth, NS. He sailed from Halifax on April 18, 1917 on the SS Northland, arriving in Liverpool, England on April 29, 1917. He proceed to Purfleet Camp, Essex and was assigned to #10 Canadian Railway Troops and proceeded to France on June 19, 1917. He served in France from June 21, 1917 and March 14, 1918. He was struck off strength with the 256th and transferred to England as a minor. He embarked for Canada from Liverpool May 13, 1918. He was discharged at Halifax on August 28, 1918. He was 17 years four months of age and was 5 feet, 6 inches in height. Library and Archives Canada
