Murray William Fox 35412 Driver Canadian Army Service Corps February 24, 1885 Yarmouth NS September 22, 1914 Valcartier Yarmouth NS 29 5 feet, 9¾ inches Fair Blue Light Brown Canadian Army Service Corps (2 years) Single Cook Wesleyan Catherine Fox (Mother) Yarmouth NS May 28, 1918 (Halifax; Medical Discharge) January 29, 1934 Mountain Cemetery, Yarmouth NS Murray William Fox was the son of Robert Braddon Fox (1850-1918) and Catherine (Boyd) Fox (1858- 1938) Murray’s siblings were George Nelson Fox (1880-1949), Robert Murray Fox (1881-1882), Clara Fox (1883- 1898), Bradford Brenton Fox (1884-1972), Ida May Fox (1887-1915), Claude Fox (1889-1962), Cornelius John Thomas Fox (1891-1958), and Catherine Fox (b. 1902). Murray, enlisted at Valcartier, Quebec on September 22, 1914, and served there until October 31, 1914 when he embarked Canada on October 3, 1914. He served in France for 3 years and 7 months as a Driver with the Canadian Army Service Corps. He was admitted to a military hospital on December 10, 1917 with tuberculosis (TB) which he contracted whilst serving in Ypres, Belgium. His health did not improve and Murray was found medically unfit for service and was invalided back to Canada on February 16, 1918. In Canada, he was admitted to the Camp Hill Military Hospital in Halifax, and was medically discharged from service on May 28, 1918. He returned to Yarmouth, NS and after suffering from illness for for many years, he died of tuberculosis at the age of 48 on January 29, 1934. His death was attributed to his wartime service.
