Prior to enlistment, he served with the 29th Canadian Field Artillery, Yarmouth as a recruit and as a
cadet.
Sergeant Gaudet transferred to the 165th Battalion after his Initial enlistment was with the 112th
Battalion. He departed Canada on the SS Metagama at Halifax on March 25, 1917 and disembarked in England
at Liverpool on April 4, 1917. On June 22, 1917 he was taken on strength with 47 Company, Canadian Forestry
Corps and arrived in France 23 June 1917. He was confirmed as Corporal on October 19, 1918 and as Sergeant
on March 4, 1919.
He was discharged on demobilization on July 12, 1919.
