Private Stephen Glode
Stephen Glode 1060271 Private 246th Reserve Battalion 1889 (Birth Registry records his birth as June 25, 1885 Barrington, Shelburne Co., NS December 15, 1916 27 (on attestation) (actual age 31) Height: 5 feet, 10 ½ inches Complexion: Dark Eyes: Black Hair Black Halifax NS Tusket, NS Married Guide Roman Catholic Mary Caroline Glode (wife), Tusket, Yarmouth Co, NS March 19, 1917 (Medical Discharge; Halifax, NS) Stephen Globe enlisted at Halifax. Both his parents had died. He was married to Mary Caroline (Bartlett) Glode and lived in Tusket, Yarmouth Co., NS. At the time of his enlistment they had one child, Lillian, 6 years of age. His service records record his conduct and character while in service as very good. In December of 1916 it was determined that he had tuberculosis and was discharged. Stephen was Aboriginal / Mi'kmaq. At discharge he returned to Tusket. Stephen’s wife died, at the age of 54 on January 28, 1948 from tuberculosis. Stephen died from burns suffered in a house fire on October 1, 1957. He was 72 years of age. Service Remembered on the Tusket Monument
