Ernest was the son of Elizabeth Kelsey, Yarmouth, NS; husband of Ida Kelsey and father of James
Kelsey. Enlisting with the 112th Battalion at Yarmouth, he embarked Canada on July 23 and disembarked in
the United Kingdom on July 31, 1916. He transferred to the Canadian Railway Troops at Witley on January
28, 1917. He served in Canada, England, and France.
