Odus Roberts (Father), East Kemptville, NS
Sergeant Roberts was the son of Odus and Odessa Roberts of Kemptville, Yarmouth Co., NS.
He trained in Canada until October, 1916 when he went overseas to England arriving at Liverpool on the SS
Olympic on October 18, 1916. He transferred from the 219th to the 85th Battalion and proceeded to
France on March 8, 1917 and joined the 85th in field on March 11, 1917.
He was promoted to Lance Corporal on September 22, 1917 and to Sergeant on January 12, 1918.
He was awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the field.
Sergeant Roberts returned to Canada on May 31, 1919 and was discharged on demobilization at
Halifax on June 15, 1919.
