Enlisting at Aldershot, NS, John Leo Surette embarked Canada at Vancouver, BC on October 11, 1918
on the SS Empress of Japan, as part of the Siberian Expedition Force. He arrived in Siberia on October 10,
1918. At Vladivostok, he was assigned to Motor Transport.
He embarked Siberia on the SS Empress of Japan on May 9, 1919 arriving in Canada on May 21, 1919.
On May 28 he was assigned to No 6 District Depot, NS and discharged at Halifax on June 13, 1919.
